Personality
Personality
Sukuyo is cheerful, welcoming, carefree, and strongly devoted to her family. The Mankanshokus live in poverty, but she treats their circumstances with remarkable optimism and makes Ryuuko feel included almost immediately.
She shares the family's exaggerated enthusiasm for food and material comforts. Even so, her affection for her children and Ryuuko is genuine rather than dependent on their social standing.
Sukuyo is rarely disturbed for long by the extraordinary events surrounding Honnouji Academy. Her ability to accept bizarre situations as part of ordinary family life helps give the Mankanshoku household its distinctive atmosphere.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Sukuyo is not a trained combatant and possesses no personal Goku Uniform. Her established skills are domestic, particularly cooking and maintaining the Mankanshoku household despite extremely limited resources.
Her signature food is a croquette prepared from inexpensive "mystery meat." Ryuuko comes to associate Sukuyo's cooking with the warmth and acceptance offered by the family.
Like other members of the Mankanshoku family, Sukuyo occasionally survives exaggerated physical situations, but these scenes are presented comedically rather than as a defined superhuman ability.
Story Role
Story Role
Sukuyo becomes part of Ryuuko's life after Mako brings her home. She feeds Ryuuko and accepts her into the household without demanding explanations about the conflicts surrounding her.
The Mankanshokus briefly experience dramatic social advancement when Mako's Fight Club becomes successful. Sukuyo enthusiastically adapts to their new wealth, but the family ultimately returns to its previous life after Mako rejects the system that created their privileges.
During the Life Fiber takeover, Sukuyo remains with her family through the collapse of Honnouji's existing social order and later joins the other survivors supporting the resistance.
