Shun'ou

Shun’ou is patient, approachable and more willing to explain the Rikka’s nature than most of his companions. He introduces the group to Orihime and guides her through the incantations needed to activate their abilities.

His delicate appearance has sometimes led to misidentification, but official character material identifies him as male. Tsubaki frequently interrupts him for talking too much.

Shun’ou combines with Ayame to create Sōten Kisshun. The shield rejects events within its boundary, reversing injuries and reconstructing the target instead of merely accelerating natural healing.

As a manifestation of Orihime’s soul, his performance depends upon her condition and resolve. The technique later becomes powerful enough to restore Grimmjow’s destroyed arm and revive severely injured allies when their souls remain recoverable.

Shun’ou serves as the Rikka’s representative when Orihime Inoue first awakens her power. He explains that the six spirits were born to protect her and teaches her how to summon them against Numb Chandelier.

He remains part of Orihime’s primary restorative ability throughout the series, although the individual spirits appear less frequently once she masters their techniques.

Orihime Inoue is Shun’ou’s creator and wielder. Ayame is his partner in Sōten Kisshun.

Tsubaki frequently interrupts and strikes him despite their shared duty. Baigon, Hinagiku and Lily complete the Shun Shun Rikka.
