Shishiba

Shishiba is pragmatic, composed, and intensely professional. He dislikes unnecessarily elaborate methods and prefers weapons and plans that are simple, reliable, and adaptable. His choice of ordinary hammers embodies that philosophy.

He distinguishes assassination from indiscriminate violence. Civilians should not be dragged into professional conflicts, and he criticizes assassins whose recklessness endangers bystanders. This principle does not make him reluctant to kill legitimate targets; rather, it defines what he considers competent work.

Shishiba frequently acts as the straight man to Osaragi's eccentric behavior. He corrects her manners, answers her strange questions, and becomes exasperated by her distractions, yet their partnership is based on genuine trust.

His notorious hatred of onions is one of the few subjects capable of provoking a disproportionately emotional reaction from an otherwise controlled man.

Shishiba is an elite close-range fighter specializing in two claw hammers. Their apparent simplicity makes them extremely flexible: he can strike, hook, trap, redirect, and exploit openings without relying on complicated weapon mechanisms.

His physical strength, reflexes, and durability are exceptional even among professional assassins. Shishiba can absorb significant punishment while maintaining the precision needed to land lethal strikes.

He is also tactically intelligent. Rather than overwhelming opponents purely through force, he studies their techniques and searches for exploitable rules or limitations.

His battles against Yotsumura and later Kumanomi demonstrate his ability to contend with opponents near ORDER level. Against Yotsumura in particular, the fight carries personal weight because Shishiba's former mentor understands many of his habits.

Shishiba is introduced as an ORDER member during the response to the bounty and the escalating threat surrounding X. Alongside Osaragi and Nagumo, he helps establish the JAA's elite enforcement arm as a force distinct from ordinary assassins.

His history becomes especially important when Satoru Yotsumura, a former ORDER founder and Shishiba's mentor, reenters the conflict. Their confrontation turns an institutional assignment into a personal test of what Shishiba has learned.

Shishiba defeats Yotsumura but does not simply erase his former mentor from the story; Nagumo secretly preserves Yotsumura for his own investigation.

Later conflicts against X's organization push Shishiba into increasingly severe battles, particularly against Kumanomi. His willingness to protect allies and civilians repeatedly places him in situations where straightforward assassination would be easier than the choices he actually makes.

Osaragi is Shishiba's junior partner. He mentors her, tolerates her eccentricities, and trusts her formidable combat ability.

Satoru Yotsumura is Shishiba's former mentor. Their eventual battle forces Shishiba to confront the man who shaped his approach to assassination.

Yoichi Nagumo is Shishiba's colleague in ORDER and occasionally frustrates him with his deceptive behavior.

Taro Sakamoto is a former ORDER member whom Shishiba knows from the assassin world.

Amane Yotsumura is the son of Shishiba's former mentor and becomes connected to him through the continuing consequences of the Yotsumura family conflict.

Kumanomi becomes one of Shishiba's most dangerous opponents during the war between the JAA and X's organization.
