Kid is relaxed, perceptive and habitually pessimistic. When circumstances appear to be going too well, he expects something unfortunate to follow and is frequently vindicated by the strange disasters surrounding Seibu.

His lack of visible ambition comes from an intensely competitive childhood. Being raised to win at shooting taught him to associate goals with the pain of failing to meet them, so he avoids investing himself openly in dreams such as reaching the Christmas Bowl.

Despite that detachment, Kid is an intelligent competitor. He reads people quickly, remains composed under pressure and is difficult for even Hiruma to manipulate.

Kid's signature weapon is his extraordinarily fast throwing motion. His shooting background gives him the reflexes and hand control to release the football almost immediately after receiving the snap.

That speed works especially well with Jo Tetsuma, whose routes are so exact that Kid can throw toward the destination before waiting for his receiver to become visibly open.

Kid is also an accomplished marksman. His football passing style and his shooting share the same emphasis on rapid target acquisition, precise timing and committing to a predetermined line.

Kid leaves behind the expectations attached to the Mushanokoji name and builds a new identity through football. With Tetsuma, he becomes the centerpiece of Seibu's rapid passing attack.

His rivalry with Hiruma is unusual because both quarterbacks rely heavily on intelligence rather than overwhelming physical statistics. Hiruma's normal psychological traps repeatedly fail to produce an easy advantage against Kid.

Seibu's Kanto Tournament run eventually brings Kid face-to-face with Gaou, whose pressure reaches him before his passing system can fully neutralize the threat. The experience becomes one of the major tests of Seibu's quick-draw offense.

Jo Tetsuma is Kid's childhood friend and ideal receiver. Jo Tetsuma's exact route running allows Kid to release passes without waiting to confirm where his target will go.

Riku Kaitani completes Seibu's principal offensive trio by providing the rushing threat that complements Kid's passing game.

Youichi Hiruma is Kid's quarterback rival. Kid's calm intelligence makes him unusually resistant to Youichi Hiruma's attempts at psychological manipulation.

Billy Horide coaches Kid and encourages the rapid-fire offensive philosophy around which Seibu is built.
