Personality
Personality
Shamon is defined primarily through his role as a martial-arts teacher. His relationship with Pyron indicates a demanding but meaningful bond between master and student, with Shamon's teachings forming the foundation of Pyron's celebrated combat style.
When summoned to confront his former pupil, Shamon does not simply overpower him. His appearance forces Pyron to confront the rage consuming him and reminds him of the discipline underlying the martial arts he inherited.
His later use as a jiangshi strips away much of this personal agency. Under Tao control, Shamon's martial expertise becomes a weapon, paralleling the same dehumanizing treatment that had earlier been inflicted on Pyron.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Shamon is a master of Ruì Chòng Quán, a martial art designed to redirect an opponent's force and answer it with precise, powerful strikes. The style allows a physically weaker fighter to exploit an aggressor's own momentum.
His techniques include Beida, a strike delivered from behind, and the secret technique Shuang Chong Quan, which attacks with both fists simultaneously.
Even as a jiangshi, Shamon retains his exceptional martial skill. This makes his corpse body substantially more dangerous than ordinary reanimated fighters, since the Tao family's control can direct a body containing decades of refined combat experience.
Story Role
Story Role
Shamon first enters the narrative through Pyron's history. Anna Kyoyama summons his spirit when the newly liberated Pyron turns his rage against Jun Tao. Shamon defeats his former student and helps restore the discipline and perspective Pyron had lost.
The Tao family later retrieves Shamon's spirit and places it into a jiangshi body, making him Ichi-Johtoh, leader of the Gohukuseitai. He confronts Yoh's group during their attempt to rescue Ren from the Tao estate.
Shamon's martial ability proves sufficient to overwhelm several of the intruders. His former pupil Pyron eventually confronts the controlled Shamon and defeats the jiangshi body, reversing their earlier master-student battle.
