Sadayo Suzumura

Sadayo is shy, obsessive and unnervingly persistent. Her stalking of Hojo initially makes him frightened and desperate to escape her attention.

Despite that behavior, she adapts surprisingly well once the pair enter Gantz. She follows Hojo's example, wears the suit and learns the basic weapons because she wants to remain beside him.

Her devotion also makes her courageous. When Hojo chooses to help others, Sadayo follows him into danger rather than prioritizing her own escape.

Sadayo has no supernatural abilities or prior combat training.

By imitating Hojo, she learns to use the Gantz suit and basic weaponry. The suit grants enhanced strength, speed and durability, allowing her to survive impacts that would otherwise incapacitate an ordinary teenager.

She also moves quietly and can go unnoticed easily, a mundane skill that complements the stealth-oriented circumstances of several encounters.

Sadayo follows Hojo onto a motorcycle while he is attempting to escape her. The resulting accident sends both into the Gantz room, where their already unusual relationship continues under far more dangerous circumstances.

She survives the Tanaka Alien mission alongside him and returns for the Buddhist Temple mission, becoming increasingly willing to fight rather than simply follow.

During the temple battle, both Sadayo and Hojo are mortally wounded while fighting together. Their relationship finally becomes mutual, and they kiss in their final moments.

Masanobu Hojo begins as the object of Sadayo's obsessive stalking. Shared danger gradually changes their relationship, and Hojo ultimately reciprocates her affection as they face death together during the Buddhist Temple mission.

Kei Kurono, Masaru Katou and Kei Kishimoto are among the returning hunters who participate in missions alongside Sadayo.
