Ryoko Shinosaki

Ryouko is friendly and comparatively ordinary, living entirely outside the secret world of Gantz. She is attracted to Izumi and takes the initiative to ask him out when encouraged by other students.

Her affection becomes increasingly important because she sees a side of Izumi that has little connection to the thrill-seeking hunter known to Kurono.

When confronted with genuine danger, Ryouko depends on Izumi without understanding the full reason he is so capable of protecting her.

Ryouko is an ordinary human with no supernatural abilities, combat training or Gantz equipment.

She has no knowledge of the black sphere's weapons or the alien hunts in which Izumi participates.

Ryouko appears after Izumi transfers into Kurono's school. She is brought to him by other students and asks him out, beginning a relationship that initially exists entirely within their normal school life.

As Izumi becomes increasingly involved with Gantz again, Ryouko remains outside that world and cannot understand the danger surrounding him.

When Vampires target Izumi, Ryouko becomes caught in the attack. Izumi protects her despite being heavily outnumbered, revealing that his apparent emotional detachment does not prevent him from placing himself in danger for her.

Shion Izumi is Ryouko's boyfriend. She knows Shion Izumi as a popular classmate rather than understanding his history as a Gantz hunter.

Tae Kojima is Ryouko's school friend.

Kei Kurono attends the same school and already knows the dangerous side of Izumi that Ryouko does not initially see.
