Personality
Personality
Ruri'iro Kujaku is vain, sociable and intensely proud of his abilities. He attempts to converse with the more reserved Zanpakutō spirits but becomes furious when ignored or insulted.
His greatest grievance is Yumichika’s deliberate use of the name Fuji Kujaku, or “Wisteria Peacock.” Azure is his preferred color, while wisteria is his least favorite; calling him by the hated nickname causes him to release only a fraction of his power.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
When called Fuji Kujaku with the command “Split and Deviate,” the weapon assumes a four-bladed sickle form suited to direct combat. This deliberately incomplete Shikai conceals its true Kidō nature from the combat-focused Eleventh Division.
Released correctly as Ruri'iro Kujaku, the blade produces flowering vines that ensnare an opponent and drain their spiritual power. The stolen energy gathers in buds along the vines. Yumichika can consume those blossoms to replenish himself while leaving the victim exhausted or dead.
The manifested spirit uses the same draining vines and is also an agile close-range fighter. No Bankai has been revealed.
Story Role
Story Role
Yumichika Ayasegawa first publicly uses the false release during the Soul Society conflict. He reveals Ruri'iro Kujaku’s true power only when he believes no member of his division can witness it.
In the anime rebellion, the spirit turns against Yumichika because his true nature is continually hidden and insulted. Their duel forces Yumichika to acknowledge the weapon by its proper name, restoring their bond.
Relationships
Relationships
Yumichika Ayasegawa is Ruri'iro Kujaku’s wielder. Both value beauty, but Yumichika’s fear of being rejected by the Eleventh Division leads him to suppress the spirit’s preferred identity.
Hōzukimaru is a fellow manifested spirit who often calms Ruri'iro Kujaku. Muramasa exploits his resentment during the rebellion, while Charlotte Chuhlhourne is the opponent against whom Yumichika first reveals the true Shikai.
