Rachel Port

Rachel receives little individual characterization outside the national tournament encounter. She participates in her team's pre-match attempt to unsettle Mizusawa but otherwise appears primarily as a regular competitive player.

No substantial personal storyline or detailed individual temperament is established for her.

Rachel plays competitive karuta at national high-school level. Her participation demonstrates the memorization, card-recognition, positioning and reaction skills necessary to represent a school in official team competition.

She faces Kanade Oe during the match with Mizusawa. No distinctive individual specialty or formal class rank is established for Rachel.

Rachel appears during Mizusawa's group-stage matches at the national championship. Chiba International initially creates uncertainty through its players' appearance and use of English.

Once Mizusawa understands that this is largely a psychological tactic, the encounter settles into conventional team karuta.

Rachel occupies one of Chiba's five boards, but her role does not develop into a recurring rivalry after the match.

Matt Rowan, Anthony Sorb and Napa Payakaroon are Rachel's teammates at Chiba International.

Kanade Oe is Rachel's opponent during the national championship encounter between Chiba International and Mizusawa.
