Prince Grus

Grus often appears detached and sarcastic, lounging casually even while discussing serious Marine matters. He can be skeptical of reckless proposals and initially resists plans that could endanger personnel without authorization.

Behind that demeanor, he is loyal to his comrades and willing to enter highly dangerous situations alongside them. His interactions with Koby and other SWORD members reveal a more competitive and emotionally invested side than his aloof presentation suggests.

The Gunyo Gunyo no Mi allows Grus to create and manipulate clay. He can form humanoid golems that move according to his commands and can deploy them in large numbers as expendable combatants.

His ability is particularly valuable for military operations because clay soldiers can absorb risks that would otherwise be borne by human Marines. Grus himself is also a high-ranking officer with substantial physical and tactical ability.

Grus is introduced more fully at G-14 as SWORD responds to the crisis surrounding Koby. He becomes part of the force accompanying Monkey D. Garp into hostile territory.

During the operation on Hachinosu, Grus's clay soldiers become an important part of Garp's plan to protect civilians and younger Marines while fighting the Blackbeard Pirates.

Monkey D. Garp leads the Hachinosu rescue force in which Grus participates.

Koby is Grus's fellow SWORD member and friendly rival. Helmeppo, Hibari, and Kujaku are other Marines with whom Grus operates as part of SWORD.
