Patterson is comparatively understated within HAYASii and is characterized more through his participation in the group than through extensive individual dialogue.

He shares the band's commitment to its dramatic visual-kei presentation and performs seriously even when the purpose of the concert is supernatural rather than recreational.

Patterson's willingness to participate in an exorcism without hesitation suggests that such assignments are within HAYASii's established experience rather than an unprecedented encounter with the occult.

Patterson has no independently established supernatural power. His demonstrated specialty is playing bass as part of HAYASii.

The band's combined performance is used as an exorcistic tool. Patterson provides the low-end musical foundation while the vocalist, guitarist, and drummer maintain the intense performance required by the ritual.

His contribution is therefore collective. HAYASii's supernatural usefulness depends on the band functioning as a complete musical unit in cooperation with an experienced medium.

Patterson enters the main story when Seiko brings HAYASii to the Ayase home as part of an attempt to deal with the Evil Eye possessing Jiji.

The band begins a loud visual-kei performance while Seiko's group prepares to force the spirit from Jiji. Patterson remains at his instrument as the ritual rapidly escalates into a supernatural confrontation.

His appearance, together with the other musicians, illustrates the unconventional breadth of the series' exorcism methods. Heavy music can function alongside talismans, spiritual barriers, psychic abilities, and traditional mediumship.

Toshirou is Patterson's vocalist and bandmate.
