Olm

Olm receives little individual characterization, but loyalty is firmly established as his defining quality.

He remains beside Sigurd through travel, battles, setbacks, and changing priorities instead of abandoning him once the original mission becomes far more dangerous than expected.

Like the other members of Sigurd's entourage, Olm is comfortable speaking and acting around his master with a familiarity uncommon in rigid feudal relationships.

Olm is capable of long-distance travel and participates alongside Sigurd's armed followers through the Baltic conflict.

He possesses enough ordinary combat competence to function within the entourage, but no named fighting technique, exceptional weapon specialty, or major individual feat is established.

His usefulness lies in reliability, manpower, and cooperation with the rest of Sigurd's companions.

Olm joins Sigurd's journey after Gudrid escapes the marriage arranged for her in Iceland.

The group pursues Thorfinn's party east, but circumstances gradually pull them into larger conflicts involving Jomsviking politics and the Baltic Sea War.

Olm remains with Sigurd as the latter's priorities change. After Sigurd earns a ship and recognizes that Gudrid loves Thorfinn, the original goal of forcing her back to Iceland loses its meaning.

He later returns to Iceland with Sigurd and is present during the final break between Sigurd and Halfdan, when Sigurd rejects the inheritance and life his father planned for him.

Sigurd is Olm's master, friend, and leader throughout the Eastern Expedition.

Gudrid is the woman whose flight initially motivates Sigurd's pursuit.

Thorfinn becomes the man whose influence helps change Sigurd's understanding of strength, leadership, and Gudrid's freedom.

Dyri, Helgi, and Thegn are fellow members of Sigurd's entourage.

Halfdan is Sigurd's father and the head of the household from which Olm's service originates.
