Oliver

Oliver is strong-willed, responsible and deeply protective of his companions. The Goldy Pond children trust his judgment enough to call him their leader, and he treats that trust as an obligation rather than a privilege.

He carries intense anger toward the Poachers for the children they have killed, but he does not allow that hatred to replace planning. Oliver understands that attacking demons directly without preparation would simply produce more casualties.

He is also receptive to useful ideas from outsiders. Emma's arrival changes the resistance's options, and Oliver evaluates what she can contribute rather than dismissing her because she is new.

Oliver is an experienced marksman and resistance fighter. Years of surviving Goldy Pond have taught him how the Poachers hunt, how demons respond to gunfire and how to coordinate multiple teams against stronger opponents.

His primary strength is leadership. He assigns responsibilities across the resistance and works with Lucas to construct a battle plan in which each team has a specific target and purpose.

Oliver is also physically capable and willing to enter dangerous confrontations personally rather than directing others from safety.

Oliver is raised at Grand Valley before being shipped to Goldy Pond. After surviving the hunts, he becomes one of the central figures in the resistance Lucas helps establish.

When Emma arrives, Oliver and the other leaders explain the situation at Goldy Pond and prepare to execute their long-developed plan against the Poachers. Emma's experience and determination provide the final opportunity they need.

Oliver leads the resistance during the Goldy Pond uprising and personally participates in the battle against Lord Bayon. He is severely wounded during the fighting but survives the destruction of the hunting ground.

After recovering, Oliver and the surviving Goldy Pond children join Emma's wider family at Shelter B06-32. He remains one of the experienced older members of the group through the later struggle against the farms.

Lucas is Oliver's co-leader, mentor and one of the principal architects of the Goldy Pond Resistance.

Sonya serves as Oliver's second-in-command and helps coordinate the resistance.

Emma becomes a crucial ally whose arrival allows Oliver's group to accelerate its plan against the Poachers.

Lord Bayon is one of Oliver's principal enemies and the demon Oliver confronts during the Goldy Pond uprising.

Zack, Sandy, Paula, Violet, Nigel, Pepe and Gillian are fellow resistance members whom Oliver helps lead.
