Older Vanish Brother

The Older Vanish Brother is arrogant, analytical, composed, and generally quieter than his sibling. Both brothers believe conventional mages neglect physical training in favor of strengthening their magic and therefore consider disciplined mercenaries naturally superior in close combat.

He analyzes magic quickly enough to distinguish Caster and Holder types and remains calm when the younger brother becomes irritated by provocation.

The older brother also uses occasional English expressions, including the name "Flame Cooking" for his frying-pan counterattack.

The Older Vanish Brother possesses tremendous physical strength, easily wielding a metal frying pan large enough to match his own height. He can smash rock with it and launch his much larger brother high into the air.

The Giant Frying Pan can absorb flames through its underside, amplify their intensity, and release them from the concave face. This produces Flame Cooking, which he uses against Natsu Dragneel's Fire Dragon Slayer Magic.

Anime material later shows the weapon similarly absorbing Ice-Make attacks through an Ice Cooking variation.

With his brother, he performs Heaven and Earth Extinct Slaying Attack. The older brother launches the younger high overhead, forcing an opponent to choose which of two attack directions to watch while the unseen brother strikes.

The Vanish Brothers are hired by Everlue to protect his mansion from intruders.

When Natsu, Lucy Heartfilia, and Happy infiltrate the estate while investigating Daybreak, Everlue orders the brothers to kill Natsu while he follows Lucy.

The Older Vanish Brother initially counters Natsu's fire and combines with his sibling to land their signature attack. Natsu endures it, survives his own reflected flames, and defeats both mercenaries with Fire Dragon's Wing Attack.

Seven years later in anime-original material, the brothers work as bodyguards for gold thieves and encounter Gray Fullbuster. The Older Vanish Brother demonstrates that his frying pan can now absorb Ice-Make attacks, but Gray ultimately defeats both mercenaries.

Younger Vanish Brother is his younger sibling, combat partner, and the other half of Heaven and Earth Extinct Slaying Attack.

Everlue hires the brothers to protect his mansion.

Natsu Dragneel becomes their first major opponent and defeats both brothers.

Gray Fullbuster later fights and defeats the brothers during an anime-original mission.

Erza Scarlet accompanies Gray during the later mission but allows him to handle the brothers alone.
