Okubo

Okubo is loyal to Kuwabara and shares the rough manner associated with their group, but his family circumstances show a responsible side beneath the delinquent image.

His need to work while attending school becomes particularly important when corrupt teachers attempt to use his employment against him. Kuwabara's refusal to let Okubo lose that job demonstrates how seriously the group treats one another's real-life problems.

Okubo remains a dependable friend even after Kuwabara becomes increasingly involved in supernatural affairs that his schoolmates cannot understand.

Okubo is an ordinary human without established spiritual techniques. He participates in schoolyard fights alongside Kuwabara's group but is nowhere near the level of trained supernatural combatants.

His primary strengths are ordinary physical toughness and loyalty to his friends. When exposed to psychic powers later in the series, he has no special defense against them.

Okubo is introduced among Kuwabara's school friends during the early Spirit Detective storyline. When teachers impose deliberately harsh conditions on Kuwabara's group, Okubo's part-time job becomes a pressure point because his household depends on his income.

He later attends a Megallica concert with Kuwabara, Kirishima and Sawamura during the Chapter Black Saga.

On the way home, the group encounters Kiyoshi Mitarai, whose water creatures trap Okubo and his friends. Kuwabara's desperation to save them helps trigger the emergence of his Dimension Sword.

After the incident, Kurama removes the three boys' memories of the supernatural encounter so they will not remain burdened by what happened.

Kazuma Kuwabara is Okubo's close friend and the leader of their school group. Kuwabara repeatedly places himself at risk to protect him.

Kirishima is one of Okubo's regular companions.

Sawamura is another member of their close school circle.

Kiyoshi Mitarai attacks Okubo and the others with his water-based Territory during the Chapter Black Saga.

Kurama later removes Okubo's memories of the supernatural attack.
