Neil

Neil is quiet, diligent and strongly protective of his mother. He works despite his young age because the family's financial situation leaves little room for an ordinary childhood.

Other children in May City know Neil but say that he rarely joins them. His isolation is connected less to hostility than to the responsibilities he carries at home.

Neil also reacts strongly when his mother is threatened or treated unfairly, showing that his reserved personality does not prevent him from standing up for her.

Neil is an ordinary child with no established combat abilities or supernatural powers.

His principal skills are practical ones developed through helping his mother operate their restaurant. His circumstances require him to work and take responsibility at an age when other children around him are free to play.

Neil appears in "Quick Draw," where Vash and Wolfwood encounter the financial hardship affecting him and his mother. His father disappeared after leaving the family with a substantial debt.

Vash and Wolfwood enter May City's quick-draw tournament with the intention of obtaining prize money that can help the family. The contest becomes increasingly dangerous when the organizers manipulate the matches.

Neil later appears briefly in "Fifth Moon," maintaining his place among the people Vash has encountered during his travels.

Clair is Neil's mother. He helps her run the family restaurant and is deeply protective of her.

Vash the Stampede becomes involved in Neil's situation and enters the quick-draw tournament partly to help his family.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood joins Vash in the tournament and likewise helps secure money for Neil and his mother.
