Clair

Clair is kind, hardworking and resilient. She continues operating the family restaurant despite being abandoned with substantial debt and having to care for Neil largely on her own.

She is charismatic enough to earn Wolfwood's sympathy quickly. Her circumstances also reveal why Neil has become unusually withdrawn and responsible for a child his age.

Clair is an ordinary human without established fighting abilities or supernatural powers.

She manages a restaurant and supports her family under severe financial pressure. Keeping the business functioning while dealing with debt collectors demonstrates practical resilience rather than combat skill.

Clair appears in "Quick Draw," after Vash meets Neil in May City. Wolfwood is already helping at her restaurant after learning that men have been trying to collect the debt left by her missing husband.

Wolfwood discovers that May City is holding a quick-draw competition with a $$50,000 first prize and enters Vash alongside himself. Their objective is to obtain enough money to help Clair and Neil.

The tournament is rigged and becomes considerably more dangerous than an ordinary shooting contest, but Vash and Wolfwood survive the scheme and secure the money needed to help the family.

Neil is Clair's son. He helps her operate the restaurant and has taken on considerable responsibility because of the family's financial problems.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood learns about Clair's debt and begins helping at her restaurant before devising the quick-draw plan.

Vash the Stampede enters the tournament with Wolfwood so that its prize money can be used to help Clair and Neil.
