Naitou

Naitou is sociable, teasing and initially skeptical. When he sees Mitsuyo with Shinichi, he jokes about the younger man being her boyfriend before she claims that Shinichi is her nephew.

He is quick to notice inconsistencies, including the fact that Shinichi may not actually be related to Mitsuyo. His skepticism also causes him to laugh when Nakano describes being attacked by an enormous inhuman creature.

Naitou is not unwilling to act once danger becomes credible. He volunteers to accompany the frightened Nakano back into the forest, reasoning that traveling as a group will be safer.

Naitou is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities.

He has no means of sensing Parasites and no specialized combat skills established in canon.

His knowledge is limited to the local community and the evidence the villagers discover during their investigation.

Naitou first appears with Taoka when the pair encounter Mitsuyo and Shinichi Izumi.

He later attends the gathering where Nakano describes the creature responsible for an attack in the forest.

Naitou initially laughs at Nakano's account but agrees to accompany him, Taoka and police officers to the scene. The discovery of Kitayama's mutilated body demonstrates that Nakano's extraordinary story was based on a genuine attack.

Mitsuyo is a fellow villager whom Naitou casually teases about Shinichi.

Taoka frequently appears alongside Naitou during the village incidents.

Nakano is initially mocked by Naitou for describing a monster, but Naitou nevertheless accompanies him back into the forest.

Shinichi Izumi is the unfamiliar visitor whose presence attracts Naitou's curiosity and suspicion.

Gotou is the actual creature operating near the village.
