Morda

Morda is mischievous, adventurous and easily bored by the sheltered life of Elfhelm. She has little interest in presenting herself with the solemnity expected of a witch and enjoys provoking reactions from others.

She envies Schierke's experience in the outside world. Where many residents of Elfhelm view the dangerous lands beyond the island cautiously, Morda sees adventure and novelty.

Despite her irreverence, Morda is a genuine magical practitioner. When Elfhelm faces danger, she participates alongside the other witches rather than treating magic merely as entertainment.

Morda is trained in astral magic under Gedfring and the magical community of Elfhelm. Her abilities include spirit-based practices typical of the island's witches.

She is associated with a large flying broom, which she can use for aerial movement. Her command of magic is sufficient for her to participate in collective magical defenses.

Morda has substantial training but is not presented as an equal to veteran masters such as Gedfring or Flora.

Morda meets Guts's companions after they arrive on Elfhelm. Their accounts of the outside world immediately attract her attention, particularly because Schierke has practiced magic in dangerous real-world situations.

She becomes part of the wider group interacting with the visitors while Casca undergoes treatment on the island.

When Elfhelm begins collapsing after Griffith's arrival, Morda joins the magical community's attempts to respond to the crisis. She survives the island's disappearance aboard Roderick's ship with Guts's remaining companions and other refugees.

Gedfring is Morda's magical teacher and one of Elfhelm's senior practitioners.

Schierke fascinates Morda because she has traveled widely and used magic outside the sheltered environment of Elfhelm.

Guts arrives on Elfhelm as part of the group whose experiences awaken Morda's curiosity about the outside world.
