Mitamura is compassionate and places moral discipline above victory. His teachings encourage his students to value life, a philosophy so deeply ingrained that their behavior while under Ichigaki's control immediately feels wrong to spiritually perceptive observers.

He inspires extraordinary loyalty. When his health deteriorates, his students are prepared to sacrifice their own freedom to secure treatment for him.

Mitamura does not blame them for what happens under coercion. His relationship with his disciples is closer to that of a father figure than a detached instructor.

Mitamura is an accomplished martial-arts teacher with enough expertise to train En, Kai and Ryo into highly capable fighters.
