Mimi

Mimi is friendly, lively and comfortable teasing Ganta. She interacts with him and Yamakatsu as an established childhood friend rather than merely another classmate.

She is excited about the class trip and participates in the casual conversations that occupy Ganta before the central conflict begins. Her characterization is intentionally grounded in ordinary school life.

Mimi is an ordinary middle-school student with no Branch of Sin or established supernatural abilities.

Nothing indicates that she possesses unusual combat training or other powers. Her role is entirely civilian.

Mimi appears among Ganta's classmates at the beginning of the story, talking with him about their upcoming school trip. She and Yamakatsu have known Ganta since elementary school and form his closest social circle at school.

The Red Man enters their classroom and massacres Mimi and the other students, leaving Ganta as the apparent sole survivor. Mimi's murder becomes part of the loss that drives Ganta to identify the Red Man and avenge his classmates.

Ganta's later recovery of childhood memories also reveals why Shiro initially reminded him of Mimi: his forgotten connection to Shiro predates the ordinary school life he built with Mimi and Yamakatsu.

Ganta Igarashi is Mimi's longtime friend and classmate. Her murder is one of the losses that motivates Ganta's search for the Red Man.

Yamakatsu is Mimi and Ganta's mutual friend from their school years.

Shiro is connected to Mimi through the classroom massacre, although Mimi never knowingly develops a relationship with her before the attack.
