Midland no Ouhi

The Queen is proud, class-conscious and accustomed to the privileges of royalty. She looks down upon Griffith's origins and considers his increasing influence within the royal family unacceptable.

She is also secretive and vindictive. Rather than confronting Griffith directly, she participates in conspiracies designed to remove him while protecting the people responsible from suspicion.

Her relationship with Charlotte is distant. She displays little of the parental warmth expected of a stepmother and is primarily concerned with the political and personal implications of Charlotte's attachment to Griffith.

The Queen possesses no supernatural powers and is not depicted as a combatant. Her influence comes from her position at the center of Midland's aristocracy.

She can gather powerful nobles around a common political objective and participate in covert operations without personally carrying them out.

Her status also gives her access to court information and potential agents, making her dangerous within the political environment even though she lacks military power.

The Queen observes Griffith's rise with increasing hostility. Her opposition intensifies as his victories and relationship with Charlotte bring him closer to the royal family.

The Queen had been secretly involved with Julius, and his assassination gives her a deeply personal motive for revenge against Griffith. She joins other nobles and Foss in a plan to poison him during the Band of the Hawk's celebration.

Griffith anticipates the assassination. After using Foss to manipulate the conspirators, he has the tower where the Queen and her allies are celebrating his supposed death set ablaze. The Queen realizes Griffith has outmaneuvered her before she is killed in the fire.

Charlotte is the Queen's stepdaughter. The Queen disapproves of her attachment to Griffith.

Midland no Ou is the Queen's husband and Midland's reigning monarch.

Julius is the Queen's secret lover, and his assassination becomes a major reason for her hatred of Griffith.

Griffith is the Queen's political enemy. She participates in an attempt to poison him, only for Griffith to anticipate the conspiracy and arrange her death.

Foss joins the Queen's conspiracy, but Griffith's abduction of Foss's daughter forces the minister to betray the plot.
