Mahoro Shimano

Mahoro is stubborn, protective, skeptical, mischievous, and far more responsible than her age initially suggests.

Her distrust of heroes grows from concern for Katsuma rather than simple dislike. After losing their mother and spending long periods without their father, Mahoro becomes accustomed to thinking of herself as the person responsible for keeping her younger brother safe.

Katsuma's dream of entering a dangerous profession therefore frightens her. She tries to prove that professional heroes are unimpressive so he will abandon the idea before being hurt.

Her attitude begins changing once Class 1-A repeatedly responds to genuine danger and protects the island without expecting fame or reward.

Hologram allows Mahoro to create large visual projections of almost anything she can imagine.

Her illusions can include gigantic creatures and other spectacular images convincing enough to be mistaken briefly for real threats.

The holograms have no physical substance and cannot directly injure or restrain anyone.

Mahoro can also use the ability for communication. During an emergency, she creates an enormous visual distress signal to reveal her location to potential rescuers.

Mahoro appears prominently in My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising when Class 1-A is assigned to operate a temporary hero agency on Nabu Island.

She initially tests the students with fake emergencies, including a fabricated missing-person incident and a giant monster created through Hologram.

Katsuki Bakugou quickly realizes one of her attacks is fake and angrily lectures her for wasting heroes' time.

The situation changes completely when Nine and his group attack the island seeking Katsuma's Cell Activation Quirk.

Mahoro repeatedly tries to protect her brother despite possessing no physically offensive ability.

After seeing Izuku and Katsuki continue fighting Nine even after suffering severe injuries, Mahoro abandons her earlier contempt for heroes and becomes one of the people urging them not to give up.

She later appears in the manga and anime watching the Final War alongside Katsuma and their father, confirming that the Shimano siblings remain part of the wider continuity after the film.

Katsuma Shimano is Mahoro's younger brother and the person she protects most fiercely.

Mr. Shimano is Mahoro's father, whom she initially regards as more admirable than any professional hero.
