Mahibi Moji

Moji begins as aggressive, confrontational and dismissive of school rules. He and his friends smoke in the kendo hall, refuse to wear proper uniforms and respond to interference with threats of violence. He is also proud of having voted against Medaka.

Beneath the delinquent behavior, Moji retains a stubborn sense of pride. After being beaten by Hyuga, he refuses to abandon the hall simply because a stronger fighter wants it. His declaration that the delinquents may be lowlifes but are not cowards reveals the determination Medaka succeeds in redirecting toward kendo.

After the club is restored, Moji remains rough around the edges and frequently clashes with Hyuga, but he no longer treats the hall simply as a delinquent hideout.

Moji practices kendo and possesses some genuine ability with a shinai. His earlier history with the sport is important to Medaka's success in reforming the delinquent group, since she is reviving an interest that already existed rather than creating one from nothing.

He is far below Hyuga's national-level ability and is quickly defeated when Hyuga attacks the group. Medaka likewise disarms him before he can react during their first meeting.

Moji is a Normal and has no established Abnormality, Minus or Style.

Moji is involved in the first request submitted to Medaka's suggestion box. When Medaka and Zenkichi Hitoyoshi enter the occupied kendo hall, she disarms Moji and confiscates the gang's cigarettes before declaring that she will reform them.

The following day, Moji and his companions return in kendo uniforms. Hyuga attacks them while trying to claim the hall for himself, but Moji repeatedly gets back up and insists that losing will not make him surrender the club. Medaka ultimately brings both groups together in the restored Kendo Club.

Moji remains a recurring background member of Hakoniwa's student body, participating in events such as the Club Battle Swim Meet. He later graduates from Hakoniwa, participates in Medaka's 100 Flowers Run, and ten years afterward works as a teacher.

Medaka Kurokami is responsible for redirecting Moji and his fellow delinquents back toward kendo. Although Moji initially opposes Medaka Kurokami, her intervention restores his willingness to take the sport seriously.

Habataki Hyuga is a far more accomplished kendo practitioner who initially tries to drive Moji's group from the hall. After both are brought into the restored club, Habataki Hyuga and Moji frequently clash.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi accompanies Medaka during her first encounter with Moji and later protects the delinquents when Hyuga continues attacking them.
