Leigharch

Leigharch is eccentric, talkative and remarkably casual about dangerous situations. Even during a violent chase, his attention can drift into hallucinations and pop-culture references rather than remaining entirely focused on the threat around him.

His drug use is central to his behavior. The anime emphasizes marijuana, while the manga also depicts cocaine use. Intoxication contributes to hallucinations involving figures and imagery drawn from television, music and other Western media.

Despite this instability, he is sufficiently trusted as a driver to be assigned to a dangerous Triad operation. Shenhua knows his habits well and reacts to his impaired behavior with the exasperation of someone who has experienced it before.

Leigharch is a skilled professional driver capable of controlling a vehicle during a high-speed armed pursuit. His work for the Triad requires more than ordinary road competence, since passengers and cargo may need to be extracted while hostile forces are actively attacking.

He demonstrates quick reactions while maneuvering through dangerous terrain and continues driving despite gunfire and pursuit. His usefulness lies almost entirely behind the wheel rather than in personal combat.

Drug-induced hallucinations significantly compromise that ability. His driving can become erratic when his perception separates from reality, making him simultaneously a valuable getaway specialist and a liability.

Leigharch appears during the operation involving Masahiro Takenaka's organization. After the Lagoon Company reaches Basilan with sensitive documents, Mr. Chang arranges ground transportation and assigns Leigharch as the driver, with Shenhua accompanying him.

The extraction turns into a chase when the militants pursue them. Leigharch drives while Shenhua and Revy deal with the attackers, producing a dangerous combination of skilled vehicle handling and increasingly surreal hallucinations.

By the time of the Greenback Jane incident, Leigharch is no longer available. Shenhua explains that a severe overdose left him requiring full-time medical care, so he does not return as her driver during the later bounty hunt.

Bai Ji-Shin Chang employs Leigharch through the Hong Kong Triad and assigns him to transport the Lagoon Company during the Basilan operation.

Revy rides in Leigharch's vehicle during the escape and must contend with both pursuing enemies and his increasingly impaired perception.

Rokuro Okajima is also transported during the operation, making Leigharch part of the support arranged to get the Lagoon Company and its information safely away from the militants.
