Legoshi

Legoshi is introspective, considerate, socially awkward, and highly conscious of how others perceive his species. Rather than taking pride in the physical advantages of being a wolf, he initially regards them almost as something shameful. He minimizes eye contact, keeps his posture nonthreatening, and accepts being misunderstood if doing so makes herbivores around him feel safer. The official anime profile describes him as kind, quiet, sensitive, and poor at communication despite his imposing carnivore body.

His gentleness coexists with powerful predatory instincts. Legoshi's struggle is therefore not simply between a violent nature and a moral personality; he gradually learns that constantly despising his own carnivorous body is itself unhealthy. Encounters with Haru, Louis, Gohin, and other animals force him to acknowledge hunger, sexuality, strength, and aggression as parts of himself that must be understood and controlled rather than erased.

Legoshi can also be remarkably stubborn. Once he decides that protecting someone or solving a problem is his responsibility, he becomes difficult to redirect even when his approach is dangerous. This tendency becomes particularly pronounced when he involves himself in conflicts between carnivores and herbivores that extend far beyond ordinary school life.

His morality is strongly individualistic. Legoshi distrusts easy assumptions about what carnivores or herbivores are "supposed" to be and repeatedly judges others according to their actions rather than species. At the same time, his tendency to shoulder responsibility alone can become another form of self-centeredness: he sometimes decides what is best for Haru or his friends without allowing them equal control over the situation.

As a large gray wolf, Legoshi possesses considerable natural strength, speed, stamina, smell, hearing, claws, and bite force. Even before serious combat training, he can overpower smaller animals and contend physically with other large carnivores. His senses are especially useful for identifying individuals by scent and detecting subtle changes in another animal's physical or emotional condition.

Legoshi initially suppresses much of that strength because he fears hurting herbivores. Training under Gohin changes his approach. Instead of relying upon his jaws, he develops powerful limb-based fighting techniques and learns to engage dangerous carnivores while wearing a muzzle, forcing himself to fight without treating biting as his automatic solution. The anime's second-season material explicitly depicts Gohin training him to capture meat-addicted carnivores using his arms and legs alone.

His combat style becomes unconventional and highly adaptive. Legoshi uses grappling, strikes, tackles, clawing, evasive movement, and environmental awareness rather than fighting according to a formal martial school. He is exceptionally tolerant of pain and can continue moving after sustaining severe injuries, although this willingness to absorb damage often reflects recklessness rather than superior technique.

Legoshi's relationship with meat also affects his physical condition. He attempts to build strength while rejecting predation and spends considerable time trying to reconcile bodily need with ethical conviction. His confrontation with Riz becomes a major test of that philosophy, culminating in a consensual act of meat consumption that differs morally from predation because of the trust between the animals involved.

Legoshi later learns that his family is not entirely gray wolf: his maternal grandfather Gosha is a Komodo dragon, making Legoshi one-quarter Komodo dragon. This ancestry explains several unusual aspects of his physiology and becomes central when he begins confronting questions about mixed-species identity.

Legoshi begins as a second-year Cherryton student assigned to lighting work in the drama club. The murder of herbivore student Tem creates immediate distrust between carnivores and herbivores, placing Legoshi under suspicion simply because he is a large predator. His first major personal crisis follows when he instinctively attacks Haru in the dark before stopping himself.

Instead of distancing himself afterward, Legoshi becomes increasingly fascinated with her. He struggles to determine whether his desire to be close to Haru is romantic attraction or predatory hunger, eventually concluding that the two impulses cannot be understood by pretending one of them does not exist. His feelings also bring him into direct conflict with Louis, whose relationship with Haru is far more complicated than their public positions at school suggest.

The kidnapping of Haru by the Shishigumi pulls Legoshi into the Black Market and exposes him to a society in which carnivores routinely purchase herbivore meat despite public taboos. His successful attempt to rescue her deepens both his relationship with Haru and his awareness that Cherryton's rules represent only a carefully maintained surface over much larger social contradictions.

Legoshi later investigates Tem's unresolved murder after deciding that leaving the killer at large threatens every herbivore at school. Gohin trains him while he follows clues toward the culprit. The official second-season story describes Legoshi explicitly committing himself to finding the killer to protect Haru and other herbivores.

His eventual confrontation with Riz forces Legoshi to acknowledge how easily carnivorous affection can become self-serving when one animal invents consent on behalf of another. Louis' involvement in the final fight gives Legoshi another model: a herbivore consciously choosing what happens to his own body.

Afterward, Legoshi's life expands beyond Cherryton. He leaves school, begins living independently, and becomes involved in conflicts surrounding the current Beastar Yahya, his grandfather Gosha, and the violent hybrid criminal Melon. Netflix's Final Season synopsis identifies Legoshi's post-school life and his growing involvement with Yahya and Melon as the central direction of the concluding story.

The final confrontation with Melon draws Legoshi, Louis, Haru, the Shishigumi, and others into a crisis that exposes tensions between carnivores, herbivores, and mixed-species animals on a much larger scale. Legoshi ultimately survives the conflict and continues pursuing a future with Haru rather than accepting social arguments that their relationship is inherently impossible. The complete anime adaptation concluded with Final Season Part 2 on March 7, 2026.

Haru is the herbivore around whom much of Legoshi's emotional development revolves. Their first encounter begins with [Legoshi] nearly attacking Haru as prey, but their later interactions produce affection that he initially struggles to distinguish from hunger. He becomes deeply protective of her, sometimes excessively so, while Haru repeatedly demands to be treated as an independent adult rather than a fragile rabbit requiring constant rescue.

Louis begins as a senior Legoshi admires from a distance. Louis initially regards Legoshi's self-effacing behavior as dishonest because he believes someone born with a carnivore's strength should not pretend to be weak. Their rivalry over Haru complicates the relationship further, yet repeated crises create considerable mutual respect. Their cooperation against Riz becomes one of the strongest demonstrations of trust between them.

Jack is Legoshi's closest childhood friend and longtime roommate. Jack understands Legoshi better than most of the other students and remains loyal even when Legoshi becomes secretive, physically changes through training, or moves beyond ordinary school life.

Gohin becomes Legoshi's combat trainer and an important adult influence. The giant panda teaches Legoshi how carnivore instincts can become destructive when suppressed or indulged irresponsibly and forces him to develop methods of fighting without relying upon his jaws.

Juno is another gray wolf in the drama club who develops romantic feelings for Legoshi. Juno initially imagines that a prestigious same-species pairing would represent an ideal future, but Legoshi's devotion to Haru makes him fundamentally incompatible with the life she envisions.

Riz becomes Legoshi's most important opponent during the Cherryton murder investigation. [After discovering that Riz killed and ate Tem, Legoshi rejects the bear's claim that predation transformed their relationship into something beautiful. Their conflict forces both carnivores to confront radically different interpretations of intimacy between predator and prey.](#spoiler)

Gosha is Legoshi's maternal grandfather and the Komodo dragon who largely raises him. Legoshi's affection for Gosha contrasts with the discrimination directed at venomous reptiles and mixed-species families, giving his own discomfort with identity a deeply personal origin.

Leano is Legoshi's mother and Gosha's daughter. Her mixed gray-wolf and Komodo-dragon ancestry gradually changed her physical appearance, and her distress over those changes profoundly affected Legoshi's childhood and later attitude toward hybrid identity.

Yahya becomes a powerful and difficult ally after Legoshi leaves Cherryton. Yahya's history with Gosha means that his interest in Legoshi is partly personal, while their very different ideas about justice repeatedly place them in conflict.

Melon becomes Legoshi's principal opponent in the final major conflict. As another mixed-species animal, Melon represents a possible response to social alienation radically opposed to Legoshi's determination to form meaningful relationships despite the contradictions of his body and society.
