Laffi

Laffi is warm, generous and motherly toward the children who visit her shop. She treats Riko much like a niece and is accustomed to Nat and Shiggy spending time there as well. Her hospitality extends beyond simply selling supplies, since she also prepares food for visitors.

She is relaxed about Hablog's work despite the dangers of cave raiding. Long absences are part of their marriage, and Laffi trusts that he will return rather than openly worrying whenever he leaves Orth.

Laffi is an ordinary human without demonstrated combat abilities or supernatural powers. Her established skills are domestic and commercial: she manages her own shop, handles supplies and specializes in spices and cooking.

Her shop's telescope also gives Riko a useful observation point for studying creatures in and around the Abyss. According to supplementary material, Laffi herself carries the smell of spices because of her work.

Laffi appears early in Riko's life in Orth, providing a familiar adult presence outside the Belchero Orphanage. Riko watches the Abyss from her shop and talks with Laffi about Hablog and cave raiding before beginning her own journey.

Later surface-side material returns to Laffi as unusual events begin affecting Orth. She speaks with Nat and Shiggy about Kiyui and discusses the Birthday-Death Disease with Mio, keeping her connected to developments occurring above the Abyss after Riko's departure.

Hablog is Laffi's husband. She affectionately calls him Habo and remains confident that he will return from his expeditions.

Riko has known Laffi since childhood and is treated by her much like an adoptive niece. Riko frequently visits her shop and uses its telescope.

Nat and Shiggy are frequent visitors to Laffi's shop along with the other orphanage children.

Mio visits Laffi's shop while staying in Orth and speaks with her about events affecting the town.
