Kyohiko Matsumura

Matsumura is timid and easily intimidated, particularly around Yonekura. He has been paying the younger bully rather than resisting him and becomes increasingly anxious as the demanded sum rises.

He is also openly interested in anime and complains that Yonekura's extortion leaves him unable to afford the magazines he wants to buy.

Matsumura turns to Kurono because he hopes his classmate will help, without realizing how emotionally detached Kurono is from him at that point in the story.

Matsumura is an ordinary student with no supernatural abilities, combat training or connection to Gantz.

He never receives Gantz equipment and has no role in the alien hunts. His vulnerability to Yonekura's intimidation instead emphasizes how different Kurono's secret experiences have become from ordinary school conflicts.

Matsumura appears shortly after Kurono returns to school following his first Gantz mission. He tells Kurono that Yonekura has been demanding money from him and has increased the amount from five thousand to ten thousand yen.

Kurono initially shows little sympathy, privately insisting that Matsumura is not really his friend. The confrontation nevertheless brings Kurono into contact with Yonekura and the delinquent network around him.

Matsumura continues appearing among Kurono's schoolmates as the contrast between Kurono's public student life and his hidden existence as a Gantz hunter grows.

Kei Kurono is Matsumura's classmate and someone he approaches for help with the extortion. Kurono initially does not consider Kyohiko Matsumura a genuine friend.

Masatomo Yonekura bullies Matsumura for money, repeatedly increasing his demands and using intimidation to keep him compliant.
