Koharu Wakana

Wakana is responsible, patient and quietly hardworking. She originally has a less glamorous reason for becoming a manager—avoiding work at her parents' grocery store—but grows into the responsibilities of the position.

She is considerably less imposing than the enormous athletes around her, yet she functions comfortably within Oujou's disciplined environment. Recording games and supporting the coaching staff require sustained attention rather than athletic ability.

Wakana is also friendly with people outside her own team, including managers and supporters from rival schools, rather than treating football rivalry as a reason for personal hostility.

Wakana's principal skills are organizational. She records football games for later review, giving Oujou material that can be studied for tactical preparation and player development.

Her recurring wastebasket catches demonstrate unusually quick reactions in a comedic everyday context. She can intercept objects thrown toward her area and neatly catch them in the bin she carries.

As Shoji's assistant, she also handles the routine support work required to keep an elite football club functioning during practices and games.

Wakana appears with Oujou as its manager and remains part of the team's support structure throughout its encounters with Deimon. She provides a civilian counterpart to Oujou's intense players and coaches.

Her work recording matches supports the White Knights' methodical preparation. While players such as Shin and Takami receive attention for executing Oujou's systems, Wakana contributes to the behind-the-scenes work that allows the team to study opponents.

Gunpei Shoji is Oujou's head coach and the person Wakana directly assists as team manager.

Ichirou Takami is one of the Oujou players with whom Wakana is particularly friendly.

Mamori Anezaki becomes friendly with Wakana despite managing rival Deimon.

Suzuna Taki also develops a friendly relationship with Wakana through their repeated encounters around high-school football.
