Koashura

Koashura is petty, emotional, jealous, and childish. His decision to kidnap Koenma stems from resentment accumulated over a childhood romantic rivalry rather than a broader political objective.

He wants to appear threatening but lacks the composure of more experienced villains. Much of his authority comes from having Garuga beside him, allowing Koashura to behave like a powerful mastermind without personally matching the strength of the opponents pursuing him.

His grievance is nevertheless sincere. Koashura remembers being humiliated when Koenma interrupted his attempt to give Kotennyo a present and left with her, transforming an immature childhood injury into a long-running desire for revenge.

Koashura is a demon but is not portrayed as a fighter comparable to Yuusuke, Hiei, or Kurama. His kidnapping plan depends heavily on Garuga's physical power and additional demonic servants.

His greatest advantage is leverage: by holding Koenma hostage, he can make demands of Spirit World's leadership that his personal strength would never allow him to enforce directly.

The Golden Seal itself is the object at the center of his plan, representing Great King Enma's authority. Koashura's attempt to obtain it gives his revenge scheme consequences far beyond the childhood grievance that motivated it.

Koashura abducts Koenma while the Spirit World prince is away from his normal duties and demands the Golden Seal as the price of his release. Botan recruits Yuusuke and Kuwabara to intervene.

The story gradually explains Koashura's resentment through his childhood connection to Kotennyo and Koenma. His scheme is therefore both a hostage crisis and an exaggerated attempt to settle an old personal score.

Koashura ultimately discovers that Garuga has only pretended to serve him. Garuga reveals himself as Yasha, betrays Koashura, and tries to seize the Golden Seal for himself, leaving Koashura exposed as a manipulated participant rather than the true primary threat.

Koenma is Koashura's childhood rival and kidnapping victim. Koashura's resentment traces back to their time together in Spirit World kindergarten and their shared interest in Kotennyo.

Kotennyo is the girl whose attention triggered Koashura's jealousy toward Koenma. Koashura had intended to give her a birthday present before Koenma interrupted the moment.

Garuga appears to be Koashura's loyal henchman throughout most of the kidnapping. He is actually Yasha and has manipulated Koashura in order to gain access to the Golden Seal.

Yuusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara pursue Koashura after Botan asks them to rescue Koenma.
