Kayama Schwer

Kayama is theatrical, arrogant and mischievous. He enjoys tricks and Trap Cards, turning his battles into elaborate performances whenever his plans activate successfully. His speech is similarly distinctive, occasionally incorporating French expressions.

Despite his arrogance, he is loyal to the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club and respects his companions. His relationship with Hatorappu is particularly strong; although the two bicker when Kayama mistranslates or misrepresents the pigeon's intentions, their arguments never erase their genuine attachment.

Kayama was considerably more timid when younger. His confidence develops alongside his relationship with Hatorappu and his place among the Heavy Cavalry members.

Kayama uses a Winged Beast Deck heavily focused on Trap Cards. Monsters such as Bombird, Bombheart and Phantom Pigeon Knight Vision support a strategy designed to punish attacks and disrupt an opponent's plans.

Trap Cards are the defining feature of his style. Heart Foolery, Counter Bomb, Counter Shield, Heartbreak Look and Shot through the Heart allow him to respond repeatedly during an opponent's turn.

In his featured Rush Duel, the tactical decisions largely come from Hatorappu, while Kayama handles the cards and translates the pigeon's instructions. This unusual arrangement makes their partnership central to how the Deck functions.

Kayama first appears among the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club members opposing the spread of Rush Duels at Goha 6th Elementary. He supports Asana and the club during their conflict with Yuga and his friends.

He later becomes central to an elaborate setup involving Lucidien "Luke" Kallister. Kayama and Hatorappu lure Luke into circumstances that culminate in an unusual Rush Duel where the pigeon is presented as the actual opponent.

Luke ultimately overcomes the pair's Trap-heavy strategy. Kayama later fights alongside the other Heavy Cavalry members against Goha 66 and becomes part of the wider group supporting Rush Duels.

Hatorappu is Kayama's constant companion and closest partner. Kayama translates Hatorappu's instructions and physically handles their cards during their shared Duel, although the two frequently argue over whether those instructions have been interpreted correctly.

Asana Mutsuba leads the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club to which Kayama belongs. He respects Asana Mutsuba and supports her objectives alongside the other club members.

Galian Townsend and Caterpillio Zomyoji are Kayama's fellow Heavy Cavalry members.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister becomes the opponent of Kayama and Hatorappu after their tricks draw him into a Rush Duel.
