Hatorappu

Hatorappu is clever, proud and mischievous. He enjoys elaborate tricks as much as Kayama does and takes considerable satisfaction in successfully trapping opponents through carefully timed cards.

He also possesses a substantial ego. Hatorappu considers himself a capable duelist in his own right and becomes frustrated when Kayama mistranslates his instructions or receives credit for decisions the pigeon believes were his.

Despite their arguments, Hatorappu cares deeply about Kayama. Their disagreements resemble quarrels between close companions rather than genuine hostility, and their shared history has made them highly dependent on one another.

Hatorappu possesses intelligence far beyond that of an ordinary pigeon. He understands Duel Monsters rules, develops strategies and communicates detailed plays to Kayama, who translates his coos for other people.

The pair's Winged Beast Deck emphasizes Trap Cards. Bombird, Bombheart and Phantom Pigeon Knight Vision provide the monster lineup, while Counter Bomb, Counter Heart, Counter Shield, Heartbreak Look and Shot through the Heart form an extensive reactive strategy.

Although Kayama physically operates the cards, Hatorappu provides the strategic decisions during their featured Duel. The arrangement effectively allows the pigeon to function as a Rush Duelist with a human assistant.

Hatorappu accompanies Kayama throughout the Goha 6th Elementary conflict as part of the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club. He participates in the group's schemes and serves as both companion and tactical advisor.

His largest role comes when Kayama's tricks lead to a confrontation with Lucidien "Luke" Kallister. Luke expects to Duel Kayama but learns that Hatorappu is effectively his true opponent.

Hatorappu and Kayama push Luke with repeated Trap Cards but ultimately lose. The pigeon remains with Kayama afterward and continues supporting the Heavy Cavalry group as its relationship with Yuga's friends improves.

Kayama Schwer is Hatorappu's closest companion and Dueling partner. Hatorappu supplies strategies while Kayama Schwer translates his instructions and handles their cards, although both frequently argue about whether those instructions were conveyed correctly.

Asana Mutsuba leads the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club in which Hatorappu serves as a tactical advisor.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister becomes Hatorappu's principal Rush Duel opponent. Hatorappu uses his Trap-heavy strategy to frustrate Lucidien "Luke" Kallister throughout their match.
