Karameel

Karameel is stern, blunt and stubborn, particularly when dealing with strangers whose intentions toward Mercphobia are uncertain. Her first interactions with Team Natsu are considerably less welcoming than Mercphobia's, and she has enough confidence in the Water Dragon God's strength to dismiss the idea that the visiting Fairy Tail mages could simply overpower him.

Her defining trait is devotion. Karameel's concern for Mercphobia extends beyond serving him as an assistant; she wants him freed from the burden imposed by his enormous and increasingly unstable power. That concern can push her into drastic decisions when she believes his well-being is at stake.

Karameel is human and is not established as a conventional combat mage. Her importance during the Water Dragon God conflict comes primarily through her knowledge of Mercphobia, Ermina and the circumstances surrounding his loss of power rather than through direct fighting.

Karameel is temporarily transformed through Mercphobia's magic alongside other residents of Ermina, but this is not an innate magical ability of her own.

Karameel meets Team Natsu after their search for the Water Dragon God brings them to Ermina. Her hostility toward the visitors reflects her concern that anyone sent by Elefseria may have come to harm Mercphobia.

Karameel eventually admits that she sought out the person known as the White Wizard because Mercphobia's uncontrollable power was preventing him from living peacefully. She asked for that power to be taken from him, believing this would allow him to live normally, but the intervention does not unfold as she intended. Her decision helps explain the strange condition in which Team Natsu finds the Water Dragon God and makes her an important catalyst for the Ermina crisis.

Mercphobia is the central person in Karameel's life. He rescued her after she was shipwrecked, and she remained with him as his assistant. Her willingness to make dangerous choices on his behalf demonstrates how deeply she values the dragon who saved her.

Faris becomes connected to Karameel through Karameel's attempt to have Mercphobia's excessive power removed. Karameel approaches the figure she believes can solve the problem, inadvertently helping create the circumstances behind Mercphobia's later instability.

Elefseria is someone Karameel regards with suspicion because of his connection to the 100 Years Quest and its objective of sealing the Dragon Gods. Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet and Wendy Marvell consequently receive a guarded reception when they arrive in Ermina as Elefseria's challengers.
