Kanshichirou Hashida

Kanshichirou is unusually calm for a one-year-old. Even when adults around him panic, fight or physically toss him between them, he frequently maintains the same nonchalant expression.

He dislikes diapers and can become distressed when separated from people to whom he has become attached. Otherwise, his mother notes that he rarely cries.

Kanshichirou develops an immediate attachment to Sakata Gintoki. He imitates Gintoki's behavior and appears comfortable treating him as a temporary parental or mentor figure.

Kanshichirou is an ordinary human infant and has no supernatural abilities or combat training.

His composure is unusually strong for his age. He remains calm through situations that terrify many adults, although this is a personality trait rather than a supernatural power.

As the remaining young heir of the wealthy Hashida family, his importance comes from his family position rather than personal ability.

Kanshichirou is left outside the Yorozuya with a note, and his resemblance to Gintoki causes Shimura Shinpachi, Kagura and others to suspect that Gintoki secretly fathered a child.

His mother Ofusa eventually explains the circumstances surrounding him. Kanshichirou is connected to the wealthy Hashida household through his father, Kantarou Hashida.

Kantarou is Kanshichirou's actual father, making Kahei Hashida his grandfather. After Kantarou's death, Kanshichirou becomes the family's remaining heir.

Kahei Hashida sends men to retrieve the child, bringing the Yorozuya into conflict with the Hashida household over whether Kanshichirou should be forced into the future selected for him.

Ofusa is Kanshichirou's mother and tries to prevent the Hashida family from controlling his future.

Kantarou Hashida is Kanshichirou's biological father, whose distinctive silver perm explains the baby's resemblance to Gintoki.

Kahei Hashida is Kanshichirou's paternal grandfather and wants him returned to the Hashida household as its heir.

Sakata Gintoki becomes Kanshichirou's temporary caretaker and an important mentor-like figure during the incident.

Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura help care for Kanshichirou after he is left at the Yorozuya.

Okada Nizou is employed in connection with the effort to recover Kanshichirou for the Hashida family.
