Kanji Koganegawa

Koganegawa is energetic, friendly and extremely straightforward. He often acts before thinking and initially lacks the tactical sophistication expected of a setter, but he never allows inexperience to discourage him.

He openly asks other players for advice, including Tobio Kageyama, and wants feedback from his hitters. His enthusiasm makes it easy for him to socialize with other first-years during the Miyagi training camp.

Koganegawa is proud of Date Tech's blocking identity. His height already gives him the physical potential to contribute to the Iron Wall, and he is determined to develop the technique needed to match it.

Koganegawa's greatest natural advantage is his height. At 191.5 cm, he can set from a high contact point and become an imposing blocker whenever he rotates into the front row.

His setting initially lacks precision. He can send balls too high or provide tosses that force hitters to adjust, reflecting his relative inexperience at the position.

Koganegawa also likes setter dumps. His early attempts can be conspicuous because he tries too hard to conceal them, but his height makes the attack potentially dangerous as his judgment improves.

Koganegawa takes over Date Tech's setting responsibilities following the retirement of Kaname Moniwa and the other third-years. His early matches demonstrate a combination of considerable physical potential and undeveloped fundamentals.

He later attends the Miyagi first-year training camp, where he practices alongside promising players from rival schools and gains opportunities to broaden his understanding of volleyball.

Date Tech's later practice with Karasuno shows how quickly its rebuilt lineup is developing, with Koganegawa increasingly integrating his setting duties into the school's formidable blocking system.
