James

James reveres Mask and enthusiastically assumes the role of his ringside supporter. He calls him “Mister,” rings a bell to announce his matches, and becomes distraught whenever the supposed hero appears to lose.

His loyalty is absolute rather than strategic. Even after suffering horrific injuries, James concentrates on encouraging Mask instead of protecting himself or retreating.

The Superstar allows James to manifest his imagined champion as Mask De Masculine. His cheers increase Mask’s strength, speed, and endurance while healing injuries that would otherwise end a battle. A sufficiently enthusiastic audience response can produce repeated increases in power.

James can regenerate from extreme bodily damage while Mask remains active. If his body is cut apart, its fragments can develop into multiple copies, creating a larger cheering audience and multiplying Mask’s enhancement. The two remain interdependent: James sustains Mask, while Mask’s survival enables James to return.

As a Sternritter, James also possesses substantial spiritual power and the Quincy capacity to manipulate surrounding reishi, though he relies almost entirely on The Superstar.

James accompanies Mask during the second Wandenreich invasion. His cheering restores the wrestler after apparent defeats by Kensei Muguruma and Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi, allowing Mask to overwhelm both captains.

Rose cuts James into pieces, but each fragment grows into another supporter. Mask’s power rises further until Renji Abarai confronts him with his completed Bankai. Renji destroys Mask, bringing James’s existence and The Superstar’s manifestations to an end.

Mask De Masculine is James’s ideal hero and a sentient manifestation of The Superstar. Their identities and survival are inseparably linked.

Kensei Muguruma and Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi repeatedly injure James in an effort to stop his support. Renji Abarai ultimately defeats Mask and ends the pair’s participation in the war. Yhwach recognizes James as the true Sternritter and acknowledges his death.
