Hiroshi Hatanaka

Hatanaka is violent, predatory and accustomed to intimidating other people. He reacts to the impossible circumstances of the Gantz room with aggression rather than fear.

His treatment of Kishimoto establishes his lack of concern for other people's safety or consent. Katou's intervention is one of the first occasions in the room where another participant directly challenges him.

Hatanaka also embraces the hunt's violence quickly, joining the attack on the Onion Alien without needing much encouragement.

Hatanaka is an ordinary human but has experience with firearms and violence through his Yakuza background.

He does not possess supernatural abilities and does not wear the Gantz suit, leaving him vulnerable despite access to the sphere's weapons.

His willingness to fight is greater than his ability to survive an opponent with genuinely superhuman strength.

Hatanaka enters among the first group of participants and immediately creates conflict by dragging Kishimoto away from the others. Katou follows and stops the assault.

Once the Onion Alien mission begins, Hatanaka participates in the group's attack on the targets.

During the confrontation with the adult Onion Alien, the creature grabs Hatanaka and uses him as a shield against a Gantz shot. The delayed blast strikes through him and destroys his body.

Kiyoshi Yoshioka is Hatanaka's Yakuza partner and enters Gantz alongside him.

Kei Kishimoto is targeted by Hatanaka immediately after she appears in the room.

Masaru Katou intervenes to protect Kei Kishimoto and physically confronts Hatanaka.

Kei Kurono participates in the same first mission and witnesses the conflict among the newcomers.
