Hijiri Fukushiro

Hijiri is confident in his swordsmanship and quickly develops a competitive relationship with Heiji Hattori. He takes martial ability seriously and is willing to test himself against skilled opponents.

His medical studies reveal another side of his ambitions. His mother worked in humanitarian aid, and medicine represents a path connected to the values she left with him.

Hijiri becomes consumed by the fear that the Onoe treasure is a weapon capable of causing mass suffering. His desire to prevent another tragedy like the one that killed his mother leads him to follow his father's mission even when doing so conflicts with the medical future he genuinely wants.

Hijiri is an expert iaidoka. He specializes in the rapid drawing and striking techniques of iaido and possesses enough speed, balance and sword control to fight Heiji at close range.

He is also physically agile and capable of fighting in extremely dangerous circumstances. During the climax he duels Heiji on the wing of a moving aircraft, demonstrating exceptional balance and confidence with a sword.

Hijiri can pilot a small aircraft and has sufficient knowledge to use its controls during the final pursuit. He is also studying medicine at university, although the film focuses more heavily on his swordsmanship than his medical training.

Hijiri encounters Heiji in Hakodate while both are connected to the kendo tournament taking place in the city. As Conan Edogawa and Heiji investigate Sumito Hisagaki's murder, the distinctive sword wounds and the presence of highly skilled swordsmen place Hijiri under suspicion.

His relationship with his father and his knowledge of the Onoe family's history gradually connect him to the treasure mystery.

Hijiri is helping Ryoe prevent the Onoe treasure from being used as a weapon. Believing the hidden object could cause mass casualties, he attempts to destroy it rather than allow Brian Kadokura to obtain it.

Heiji pursues Hijiri as he flies toward the treasure site carrying a bomb. The two duel on the aircraft's wing until Heiji defeats him, after which Heiji manages to dispose of the explosive safely and rescue the unconscious Hijiri before the aircraft crashes.

Ryoe Fukushiro is Hijiri's father and the person from whom he inherits his iaido training. [Hijiri Fukushiro follows Ryoe Fukushiro's determination to destroy the Onoe treasure, although Heiji eventually challenges him to remember his own desire to pursue medicine.](#spoiler)

Heiji Hattori becomes Hijiri's martial rival in Hakodate. [Their conflict culminates in a sword fight on the wing of a moving aircraft, with Heiji Hattori ultimately defeating him.](#spoiler)

Sumito Hisagaki's murder places suspicion on expert swordsmen associated with the treasure hunt. [The actual killer is Ryoe Fukushiro, whose technique and efforts to redirect suspicion complicate the investigation surrounding Hijiri.](#spoiler)

Brian D. Kadokura seeks the treasure that Hijiri believes must be destroyed before it can be used as a weapon.
