Higashi no Kaiou

Higashi no Kaiou is competitive, strict, impatient, and intensely proud of the speed of her students. She reacts poorly when they lose and is willing to punish disappointing performances with extensive additional training.

She also enjoys racing and uses almost any opportunity to turn movement into a competition. Her enthusiasm leads her to challenge Goku directly after seeing how quickly he can move.

Despite her ego, she recognizes genuine ability. Watching the tournament eventually convinces her that Goku and Pikkon operate far beyond the level of most competitors.

East Kai is a directional Kai and therefore a deity responsible for overseeing one quarter of Universe 7. Her exact personal combat strength is never demonstrated.

Her students are noted primarily for speed, reflecting her own obsession with rapid movement and racing. Arqua and Chapuchai compete as representatives of her quadrant during the Other World Tournament.

She can travel rapidly through the Other World and operates a specialized jet bike during her race with Goku. Reference material identifies racing as one of her defining interests.

East Kai appears during preparations for the Other World Tournament on Grand Kai's Planet.

She challenges Goku to a race and uses her jet bike, expecting to outperform the recently deceased Saiyan. Goku's speed surprises her, though the race becomes less important once the tournament begins.

Her students compete against fighters from the other quadrants. Arqua eventually faces Goku and is defeated despite using an aquatic battlefield transformation to gain an advantage.

After her fighters are eliminated, East Kai orders them to complete extensive running exercises as punishment.

She later makes brief anime appearances during later Other World events and Dragon Ball GT.

Dai Kaiou is Higashi no Kaiou's superior and the deity who oversees all four directional Kais.

Goku becomes both her racing opponent and the fighter who defeats her strongest tournament representative.

Arqua is one of East Kai's principal students.

North Kai, Nishi no Kaiou, and South Kai are the other directional Kais with whom she shares responsibility for Universe 7.
