Hiashi Hyuuga

Hiashi is disciplined, stern, proud, and heavily influenced by the responsibilities of leading one of Konoha's most prestigious clans. He values competence and initially treats emotional hesitation as weakness.

This attitude defines his early relationship with Hinata. When she repeatedly fails to meet his expectations and Hanabi demonstrates greater natural confidence, Hiashi effectively removes Hinata from consideration as the clan's future leader.

His relationship with Neji is more complicated. Hiashi carries guilt over the fate of Hizashi and eventually attempts to tell Neji the full circumstances surrounding his father's choice.

As the series progresses, Hiashi becomes less rigid. He shows greater respect for Hinata's growth and increasingly treats the branch family's suffering as something that must be acknowledged rather than ignored.

Hiashi possesses the Byakugan, granting near-360-degree vision, telescopic sight, and the ability to perceive the chakra pathway system and individual tenketsu.

He is a master of the Hyuga clan's Gentle Fist, striking chakra points rather than relying primarily on external physical damage.

Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms allows him to rapidly strike a target's tenketsu and disrupt chakra circulation.

Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven releases chakra from across his body while rotating, creating an almost complete defensive barrier capable of repelling incoming attacks.

He also uses Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm, releasing compressed chakra from a distance to strike opponents outside conventional Gentle Fist range.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, his proficiency makes him one of the Allied Forces' strongest close-range Hyuga fighters.

Hiashi first becomes important through Hinata and Neji's family history during the Chūnin Exams.

Years earlier, a Kumogakure shinobi attempts to abduct young Hinata in order to obtain the Byakugan. Hiashi kills the intruder while defending his daughter.

Kumogakure then demands Hiashi's body as compensation, threatening renewed war if Konoha refuses.

Because handing over Hiashi's body would expose the main family's Byakugan, Hizashi volunteers to die in his place. Neji grows up believing his father was forced into the sacrifice because he belonged to the branch family.

After Naruto defeats Neji in the Chūnin Exams, Hiashi gives his nephew a letter written by Hizashi and explains that Hizashi chose the sacrifice himself.

In Part II, Hiashi remains clan head and participates in Konoha's defense and later the Fourth Shinobi World War.

He fights beside other Hyuga clan members in the First Division and demonstrates high-level Gentle Fist techniques against the White Zetsu Army and Ten-Tails forces.

Hizashi Hyuga is Hiashi's younger twin brother. Their relationship is shaped by the main-branch family division despite their close blood relationship. [Hizashi Hyuga ultimately chooses to sacrifice himself in Hiashi's place.](#spoiler)

Hinata Hyuga is Hiashi's eldest daughter. He initially judges Hinata Hyuga harshly but later recognizes her perseverance and growth.

Hanabi Hyuga is Hiashi's younger daughter and initially appears to possess greater natural aptitude than Hinata.

Neji Hyuga is Hiashi's nephew. Hiashi eventually tells Neji Hyuga the truth about Hizashi's choice and asks forgiveness for the suffering surrounding the branch-family system.

Naruto Uzumaki becomes important to Hiashi's family through his influence on Hinata and Neji.
