Hertrude Sera Fanoss

Hertrude is proud, intelligent and devoted to the Principality of Fanoss. She carries the resentment of a nation that regards Holfort as its enemy and is willing to participate personally in dangerous military operations.

She is also perceptive. Hertrude quickly recognizes that Leon is not an ordinary Holfort noble and understands the strategic importance of his abilities. Even while treating him as an enemy, she can acknowledge his usefulness and strength.

Her confidence is supported by royal upbringing and military authority, but she is not indifferent to those serving her. Her relationships with the people of Fanoss, particularly its veteran knights and her younger sister, show that her loyalty to the principality is personal as well as political.

Hertrude possesses a magical flute that allows her to summon and control monsters. This makes her enormously valuable to the Fanoss military, which can deploy monster forces alongside conventional ships and soldiers.

The flute allows Hertrude to direct attacks on a scale far beyond an ordinary magic user. During the assault on the academy ship, monsters respond to her music and become a major component of the Fanoss offensive.

Her greatest strength therefore lies in battlefield command and monster control rather than individual swordsmanship. Removing her ability to coordinate the monsters can dramatically alter the balance of a battle.

Hertrude leads the Fanoss attack during the Royal Academy's school trip, declaring war far earlier than Leon Fou Bartfort remembers from the original game. Garrett serves among the commanders supporting the operation.

Her forces take control of the academy ship and place its students in an actual wartime situation. Leon ultimately organizes the students into resistance, turning what should have been a school event into a major battle between Holfort and Fanoss.

Her defeat does not end the conflict. The principality possesses additional forces under her younger sister, and the struggle develops into a broader war whose events diverge increasingly from the original game's scenario.

Hertrauda Sera Fanoss is Hertrude's younger sister and another princess of Fanoss. The sisters share a strong commitment to their homeland.

Vandel Him Zenden is the Black Knight who serves the Fanoss princesses. He is deeply protective of Hertrude Sera Fanoss and Hertrauda Sera Fanoss, treating them with an affection that contrasts with his otherwise severe personality.

Leon Fou Bartfort becomes Hertrude's principal enemy during the invasion. She quickly recognizes his extraordinary military value despite their opposition.

Marie Fou Lafuan later develops an unexpected friendship with Hertrude after the conflict changes the princess's circumstances.
