Gozu

Goz is straightforward, emotional and initially cowardly in the face of Akuma. Unlike Exorcists, he has no Innocence to protect him, making his fear understandable rather than merely comic.

His time with Lenalee Lee and Suman Dark strengthens his resolve. Seeing people continue despite danger inspires him to take his own responsibilities more seriously.

Goz is an ordinary human and cannot use Innocence. As a Finder, he supports Exorcists through reconnaissance, communication and field assistance rather than direct Anti-Akuma combat.

His most notable physical talent is running speed, reflecting his background as a football player. He performs much less effectively over difficult mountain terrain.

Goz originates in the D.Gray-man: Reverse story "The Village Where the Witch Dwells" and was subsequently incorporated into the 2006 anime. His anime role places him alongside Lenalee Lee during the events surrounding Suman Dark.

He begins the assignment frightened by the dangers surrounding him but becomes more determined after observing the Exorcists. His role emphasizes the risks ordinary Black Order personnel face while supporting Accommodators in the field.

Lenalee Lee works alongside Goz during his anime assignment. Her courage helps him overcome some of his initial fear.

Suman Dark also influences Goz's determination. Goz follows him after separating from Lenalee and approaches the mission with greater resolve.

Yu Kanda encounters Goz in the Reverse novel story in which the Finder originally appears and saves him from an Akuma.
