Gegetsuburi

Gegetsuburi is boastful, confrontational and deeply embarrassed that his appearance reflects Ōmaeda’s. He demands respectful treatment, insisting that his wielder call him “Mr. Gegetsuburi.”

Despite their mutual insults, spirit and wielder share an enthusiasm for crackers and a pragmatic approach to combat. Gegetsuburi believes victory matters more than honor and willingly uses surprise attacks.

In Shikai, Gegetsuburi becomes a large spiked iron ball attached by a chain to its hilt. Ōmaeda swings or throws it as a crushing weapon, relying on momentum and physical force rather than a supernatural secondary effect.

The manifested spirit uses the same weapon and combines deceptive movement with surprising speed. His association with an Onmitsukidō officer is reflected in his willingness to conceal his approach and strike while an opponent is distracted.

No Bankai has been revealed.

Ōmaeda first releases Gegetsuburi while fighting Yoruichi Shihōin during the Soul Society conflict. The weapon later appears in battles against Baraggan’s forces and the Wandenreich.

During the anime-only Zanpakutō Rebellion, Gegetsuburi leaves Ōmaeda under Muramasa’s influence, claiming that his master’s looks and personality justify revenge. The two reconcile after discovering how much they have in common and later fight Gillians together, although their bickering continues.

Marechiyo Ōmaeda is Gegetsuburi’s wielder and spiritual counterpart. Both are gluttonous, proud and more agile than their builds suggest.

Muramasa manipulates Gegetsuburi during the rebellion. Ichigo Kurosaki defeats his manifested body with Getsuga Tenshō, while Yoruichi Shihōin faces the weapon’s canonical Shikai.
