Danrou Oze

Danrou is stern, authoritative and accustomed to giving orders. His military career places him among the senior figures responsible for Tokyo's security, and he approaches large-scale threats through formal command structures and coordinated deployments.

Around his family, however, Danrou's imposing demeanor softens considerably. He dotes on Maki and has difficulty separating his assessment of her as a capable soldier from his instinct to protect his daughter.

This protectiveness can become overbearing. Maki deliberately left the military for the Special Fire Force partly to pursue her own path, while Danrou continues to see the dangers surrounding Company 8 as evidence that she would be safer back under military authority.

Danrou's principal established strength is his military authority and experience rather than a named Ignition Ability. As a general, he commands substantial personnel and can coordinate operations involving branches of the Tokyo Imperial Armed Forces.

He possesses the strategic authority to direct Company 2 because of that brigade's close connection with the military. This allows him to mobilize Fire Soldiers alongside conventional security forces when a threat falls under imperial military jurisdiction.

His influence becomes particularly important when intelligence concerning White-Clad activity beneath Tokyo requires an organized response larger than a normal Fire Force investigation.

Danrou is introduced through the Oze family and the military side of Maki's background. His presence establishes that Maki comes from a family deeply embedded in the Tokyo Imperial Armed Forces rather than from an ordinary civilian household.

After Takigi discovers suspicious activity in the Nether, Danrou treats the underground threat as a major security concern. He orders Company 2 to investigate and requests Company 8's cooperation because of its previous experience with the Nether and White-Clad.

At the same time, Danrou orders Maki back into military service, believing that Company 8 has placed her in unacceptable danger. The decision creates a conflict between his paternal instincts and Maki's commitment to the brigade she chose for herself.

The catastrophic losses suffered during the joint Nether operation reinforce the scale of the White-Clad threat and draw the military more deeply into a conflict that can no longer be handled by isolated Fire Force companies.

Madoka Oze is Danrou's wife and the mother of their two children. Their family dynamic contrasts the general's military severity with a comparatively ordinary domestic life.

Maki Oze is Danrou's daughter. He is extremely proud and protective of her, but his efforts to remove her from Company 8 conflict with Maki's determination to choose her own career.

Takigi Oze is Danrou's son and a First Lieutenant serving as a military criminal investigator. His discovery of White-Clad activity in the Nether prompts Danrou to authorize a major investigation.

Gustav Honda commands Company 2, the Special Fire Force brigade closely tied to the Imperial Army, and carries out the Nether investigation ordered by Danrou.

Akitaru Ōbi commands Company 8 and is responsible for the brigade Maki chooses over returning to the military. Danrou's protectiveness toward his daughter creates tension with the risks inherent in Ōbi's investigations.
