Daikichi Komusubi

Komusubi is quiet, earnest and intensely devoted to strength. He communicates mainly through grunts and short expressions known as "Powerful-go," a supposed language understood by people who possess the spirit of truly strong men.

He idolizes Kurita without resentment, treating the larger lineman as the model he wants to follow. That admiration leads him to train at extreme hours and even stay at Kurita's home.

Komusubi is sensitive about being underestimated because of his height. Rather than accepting that a 150 cm player does not belong on the line, he uses every challenge as motivation to prove otherwise.

Komusubi's 110 kg bench press is exceptional for his 64 kg body weight. His short stature also gives him a very low center of gravity, allowing him to drive upward beneath taller opponents and make himself difficult to dislodge.

He plays offensive guard and defensive tackle, using compact power rather than reach. His lack of height can become a genuine advantage when leverage matters more than arm length.

His specialized combinations with Deimon exploit that low profile, including plays in which he creates a compact point of impact for Sena to attack or leap over.

Komusubi becomes interested in Deimon after watching Kurita during the Zokugaku exhibition match. He enters the Hell Tower recruitment challenge and earns his place on the team through persistence.

His most personal early matchup comes against Mizumachi, who openly argues that short linemen such as Komusubi are obsolete. The confrontation gives Komusubi an opportunity to prove that leverage, strength and determination can overcome a major height disadvantage.

Komusubi eventually defeats Mizumachi in their decisive clash and earns his respect. He continues developing as one of Deimon's regular linemen through the team's later tournament run.

Ryokan Kurita is Komusubi's mentor and idol. Komusubi trains obsessively alongside Ryokan Kurita and wants to become the kind of powerful lineman he sees in him.

Kengo Mizumachi initially mocks Komusubi's height and becomes his principal positional rival. [After their decisive clash, Kengo Mizumachi recognizes Komusubi's strength and can even understand his Powerful-go.](#spoiler)

Goki Komusubi is Komusubi's father and one of the people capable of understanding his unusual manner of speech.
