Kengo Mizumachi

Mizumachi is energetic, cheerful and naturally competitive. He leaves swimming not because he lacks talent, but because he becomes frustrated when his teammates do not share his desire to train seriously enough to remain champions.

He is also immature and insensitive. Mizumachi says whatever comes to mind, casually strips down to his underwear and initially mocks shorter linemen because he assumes height represents the future of football.

His arrogance is not immovable. When a smaller opponent proves strong enough to challenge him, Mizumachi can acknowledge the result and revise his opinion.

Mizumachi transfers techniques from swimming directly into line play. His Swimmer's Start uses a stance resembling a swimmer on a starting block, allowing him to explode forward immediately after the snap.

His Swim technique adapts the arm movement of front crawl to football, sweeping an opposing blocker aside as he drives toward the backfield.

At 193 cm, he combines long reach with better acceleration than many large linemen. Poseidon can also use him as part of an expanded linebacker formation because of that mobility.

Mizumachi is recruited into Kyoshin Poseidon after abandoning competitive swimming and quickly becomes one of its major young talents. His height and athleticism fit the team's effort to build around unusually tall players.

Against Deimon, he dismisses Daikichi Komusubi as too short to belong on a serious line. Their confrontation becomes a direct argument between Mizumachi's belief in athletic proportions and Komusubi's determination and compact power.

Komusubi eventually defeats him in their decisive confrontation. Mizumachi accepts the result and gains genuine respect for the smaller lineman, even demonstrating that he can understand Komusubi's unusual "Powerful-go."

Shun Kakei recruits Mizumachi into football and becomes one of the teammates he respects most.

Osamu Kobanzame is Poseidon's captain. Mizumachi respects Osamu Kobanzame and the other older players despite being physically larger than them.

Daikichi Komusubi begins as someone Mizumachi dismisses because of his height. [Their confrontation turns Daikichi Komusubi into a respected rival after the smaller lineman proves his strength.](#spoiler)
