Dai Moroboshi

Moroboshi is competitive without exaggerating his own reputation. Despite being recognized as one of Japan's leading high-school players, he does not claim that his ability surpasses every other national star.

His reaction to Hiroshi Morishige shows the perspective of an experienced elite player suddenly confronted by an extraordinary physical talent. Rather than dismissing Morishige as an inexperienced first-year, Moroboshi recognizes the danger he presents.

Moroboshi also carries the responsibility expected of Aiwa's captain and ace. His team depends heavily on his presence when competing against other national-level programs.

Moroboshi is established as an elite shooting guard and the central offensive player for Aiwa Gakuen. His national reputation indicates high-level scoring and all-around guard ability, although the manga does not provide a complete technical showcase comparable to the major Shohoku games.

The original television anime expands his performance against Meihou, depicting him as an accomplished dribbler, scorer and perimeter player capable of driving through defenses and finishing at the basket.

His value to Aiwa becomes obvious when Morishige's physical dominance removes him from part of their prefectural game. Without its ace available for a significant stretch, Aiwa falls badly behind.

Moroboshi is introduced when Sakuragi and others travel to observe the Aichi tournament. His presence initially attracts attention because of his reputation as the "Star of Aichi."

The focus shifts rapidly when Morishige produces a spectacular performance against Aiwa. Moroboshi is injured during the game after a collision involving Morishige and is taken away for treatment. Although he later returns, Meihou has established a commanding advantage.

Aiwa nevertheless qualifies for the national tournament and later becomes Shohoku's next opponent after Shohoku's victory over Sannoh. The manga states that the exhausted Shohoku team loses that following game.

Hiroshi Morishige becomes Moroboshi's major opponent in the Aichi tournament and demonstrates physical ability extraordinary even by national standards.

Shinichi Maki knows of Moroboshi's reputation and travels to Aichi to observe the competition with Nobunaga Kiyota.

Hanamichi Sakuragi encounters Moroboshi while observing the Aichi tournament and initially expects to see the famous Aichi ace dominate.
