Cain Flaccano

Caine is opportunistic and intensely protective of the wealth he has accumulated. His comfortable present contrasts with his past as a robber, and he uses his money to surround himself with expensive possessions and security.

His ostentatious lifestyle was deliberately used in the film's design to portray him as newly rich rather than refined. Once Gasback's intentions become clear, Caine is sufficiently frightened to rely on an army of bounty hunters and Macca City's defenses rather than face his former leader personally.

Caine is an ordinary human and former armed robber. The film does not give him supernatural abilities comparable to Vash or the series' enhanced fighters.

His principal power in the present is wealth. Caine owns a Plant and has access to expensive lost technology, resources that make his property exceptionally valuable on No Man's Land.

He also benefits from the enormous concentration of armed bounty hunters attracted to Macca by the reward offered for Gasback.

Caine participates in Gasback's robbery twenty years before the main events of Badlands Rumble. Mechio Tante Ogorare and Dorino Ohre Tadiski are his fellow gang members.

The three men betray Gasback and attempt to take the proceeds for themselves. Vash prevents Gasback from killing them, and they use their survival to build substantial fortunes over the following twenty years.

When Gasback begins destroying the businesses belonging to his former partners, Caine becomes the apparent final target. Gasback's actual objective is Caine's Plant, which he steals rather than simply destroying Caine's property.

Gasback Gallon Getaway is Caine's former leader. Caine participates in the betrayal that motivates Gasback's twenty-year pursuit of his old partners.

Mechio Tante Ogorare and Dorino Ohre Tadiski are Caine's fellow former gang members and later wealthy businessmen.

Vash the Stampede intervenes when Gasback turns on the three traitors. Vash's refusal to let Gasback kill them allows Caine to survive the confrontation and establish his later fortune.
