Personality
Personality
Bang is patient, perceptive, good-humored, and considerably humbler than his reputation suggests. He can joke casually with much younger heroes and repeatedly invites talented fighters to join his dojo.
His calm demeanor developed only after a violent youth. Bang was once an arrogant martial artist who used strength to dominate others until his older brother forced him to reconsider what martial arts should represent.
Garou's fall weighs heavily on him. Bang initially approaches the problem as something that can be solved by physically disciplining his former student, but later recognizes that his own failures as a teacher contributed to Garou's path.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Bang is a master martial artist with strength, speed, durability, and reflexes vastly beyond ordinary humans. Even in his eighties, he can defeat powerful monsters through hand-to-hand combat.
His signature Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist uses circular movements to redirect incoming force and return it against the attacker. The style combines offense and defense so seamlessly that Bang can counter multiple strikes while minimizing wasted motion.
Bang can also use Exploding Heart Release Fist, the aggressive style associated with his youth. Together with Bomb, he can perform combination techniques such as Roaring Aura Sky Ripping Fist and Cross Fang Dragon Slayer Fist.
Story Role
Story Role
Bang enters the story during the meteor crisis, where he observes Genos's attempt to save Z-City and later recognizes that Saitama is far stronger than his official rank suggests.
He repeatedly tries to recruit Saitama and Genos into his dojo, partly because Garou's earlier rampage drove away nearly all of his students.
When Garou begins hunting heroes, Bang takes personal responsibility for stopping him. He asks his brother Bomb to help and follows Garou's trail through the expanding Monster Association crisis.
Bang eventually confronts Garou directly during the Monster Association battle and reaches him through both combat and the principles underlying their martial art. After the conflict, Bang retires from professional hero work and concentrates on rebuilding his relationship with Garou as master and student.
Relationships
Relationships
Garou is Bang's greatest student and greatest failure in his own estimation. Bang expels him after his dojo rampage but never stops feeling responsible for the path he takes afterward.
Bomb is Bang's older brother and one of the only martial artists who can consistently challenge him.
Charanko remains Bang's loyal disciple after the other students abandon the dojo.
Saitama fascinates Bang because his overwhelming physical power exists without formal martial arts training. Bang repeatedly tries to recruit him.
Genos also receives Bang's recruitment attempts and fights beside him during several crises.
