Yun-Ho Baek

Baek is serious, perceptive and protective of his subordinates. He regards guild members as people under his responsibility rather than expendable resources, becoming personally involved when training teams or Hunters under his command are endangered.

He is ambitious enough to build one of Korea's major guilds but does not constantly advertise his strength. His judgment is generally practical, and he is willing to acknowledge someone stronger rather than allowing pride to obscure what he sees.

Baek is especially perceptive when evaluating other Hunters. He becomes one of the earliest S-Ranks to realize that Jin-U's apparent strength cannot be explained by an ordinary reawakening.

Baek's defining ability is Transformation. He can partially or completely assume a powerful humanoid tiger form with white fur, claws and enhanced physical attributes. The transformation substantially increases his already formidable strength, speed and combat ability.

His Eyes of the Beast allow him to assess the strength of Hunters and magic beasts with unusual accuracy. This ability contributes to his early recognition that Jin-U Seong possesses power far beyond what other people initially assume.

Even without transforming, Baek has the physical capabilities of an S-Rank Hunter and specializes in close combat. His transformed claws serve as natural weapons, allowing him to fight without relying on conventional swords or other equipment.

Baek becomes involved with Jin-U through the White Tiger Guild's attempt to recruit him and through the Red Gate incident involving the guild's new recruits. When the training party becomes trapped inside a Red Gate, Baek rushes to the scene and later examines the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the survivors.

His Eyes of the Beast help him recognize that Jin-U's power is continuing to change, something that should be impossible under the normal rules governing awakened Hunters.

Baek later joins South Korea's S-Rank strike team for the fourth Jeju Island raid. He fights alongside Hae-In Cha, Jong-In Choi and Byung-Gyu Min against the ant colony. The Ant King overwhelms Baek and the other Korean S-Ranks before Jin-U arrives and reverses the battle.

Jin-U Seong attracts Baek's attention after the Red Gate incident. Baek becomes one of the first senior Hunters to understand that Jin-U's strength is increasing beyond normal limits.

Byung-Gyu Min is Baek's close friend and a retired S-Rank healer whom he helps persuade to participate in the Jeju Island raid. Byung-Gyu's death during the raid deeply affects him.

Hae-In Cha fights alongside Baek as a member of the Korean Jeju Island strike team.

Jong-In Choi is the Guild Master of the rival Hunters Guild and another of Korea's leading S-Rank Hunters.

Dong-Su Hwang clashes with Baek after threatening members of the White Tiger Guild.
